ELLE MAGAZINE [07 Jan 2009|12:01am]
Singer and current Victoria Secert model, Tara Lemacks has been through a lot in her 25 years of life; a raise to fame, a marriage, a successful modeling and singing career as well as a very public divorce. She's kept quiet about most of these things but as we found out, she's sick of people saying things that may not true about her. So, she's going to set the record striaght for herself.

"I know most people always say, 'Oh, I've wanted to do this since I was two' but not me." Lemacks tells us. "I wanted to be a teacher, preschool teacher, actually." The beauty, who still found time to go to school in New York and graduate with honors told us, "Modeling, just happened. We were in New York on Vacation and there was this contest going on. The prize was $5,000 and meetings with three different agencies. I never thought I would win, I just did it for shits and giggles to say that I did it. And when I won, I was floored." Come to find out out, that wasn't the only thing she would be floored about, "All three agencies I met with wanted to sign me. So I went with the one that suited me best. and agreed to cater to my needs and demands, like finishing school. That was the main one. I wanted to be as normal as possible." Normal? Has she even looked in the mirror? I don't know many women that look like she does. "So like that, my mom and I packed up and moved to New York, leaving my brothers and sisters with my dad is Tampa."

Not a year after her big break, she was in hig demand. "Everyone wanted me in their shows, and I was finishing up school! I thought I was going to die! But I got through it fine." Turns out, modeling wasn't her only talent, she could sing too! "My grandma taught me to play piano when i was younger, so I was always making up silly songs with my sisters. But As I got older, I realized it was a great way to get things off my chest." Her songs caught the ear of the legendary, Clive Davis. Who stated he wanted to start working with her as soon as possible, "He told me he wanted to sign me. He didn't really give me a chance to say no. And I couldn't say no. I guess I'm too nice." she joked. Turns out, Clive, as well as many others were working with this songwriter, Tyler Young. "He was very eager for me to me with Tyler and write with him. And after seeing his stuff, I was pretty excited myself."

Her friendship with Tyler wouldn't be 'just a friendship' for long though, not if Tyler had his way. "It was so werid. He was constantly sending flowers to the studio when he knew i would be there. And just bending over backward to impress me. It was really cute." Whatever he did must've worked though, the two were married in 2001. "We married before I even released the album. I put it on hold to give my new marriage all of my time." Her self titled album was released in 2003 And had four hit singles. After the album, Tara turned her attention back to her modeling for a bit. And in 2006, the beauty released a follow up album, "Heartburn" On her husband's newly established label. Things were going prefectly for the both of them professionally. But at home it was another story. "We were contantly fighting. I wanted kids and he didn't. He told me we had babies, our dogs, but they aren't like the real thing, and that's what I wanted. He was so focused on his work, it was aweful. When your married, I feel your marriage should come first, obviously, I was putting more into it then him." Rumors would later start that Young was seeing upcoming singer, Madsion Lathan. "When the rumors started about Madsion, that was it, I was done. I went and filed for a divorce, I had to get out." Two weeks after filing, she released the song "Karma" as a single. "The song wasn't about the situation, but it fit prefectly."

Even though she still says she bitter about the whole thing, she's over it. she has found other ways to occupy her time, "I love to party." The dancing queen has been spotted at a lot of clubs lately, "And I love a lot of different music! I love TJ Lathan's stuff, it's great! But I'm really liking Vivien Francon right now, she hot. and that song 'Poker face' is amazing." So there you have anything you wanted to know about this beauty is cleared up, for now anyway. Next year, it'll be another story.
